US and Canada Team Up to Probe Cross-Border Activity

U.S. and Canadian authorities have initiated a joint investigation following a series of alleged cyberattacks targeting the public address systems of four North American airports. The affected airports reportedly include Kelowna International Airport and Victoria International Airport in British Columbia, Windsor International Airport in Ontario, and Harrisburg International Airport in Pennsylvania. Reports indicate that the compromised PA systems broadcasted offensive messages, including one targeting political figures.

Transport Canada, in a statement to CNN, confirmed its collaboration with federal security partners and law enforcement agencies to assess the potential impact on airport operations and prevent future incidents. The investigation aims to determine the extent of the breach, identify the perpetrators, and implement necessary security enhancements to safeguard critical airport infrastructure. This incident highlights growing concerns about the vulnerability of public infrastructure to cyberattacks and the potential for disruption and the spread of misinformation.
