Trump Declines Involvement Amid Reporter Inquiry

Former President Donald Trump has declined to intervene in the New York City mayoral race, despite a reporter’s query about urging Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa to withdraw. The question arose following a poll indicating that Sliwa’s departure could significantly narrow the gap between another candidate, Cuomo, and a candidate named Mamdani, potentially bringing Cuomo within four points.

Trump responded by expressing concerns about the prospect of a “communist” becoming mayor of New York, adding that the new mayor would ultimately have to “go through the White House.” However, he ultimately stated, “I don’t know that I want to get involved…” As of the latest data available, the dynamics of the NYC mayoral race remain fluid, with potential shifts based on candidate strategies and public opinion in this closely watched election.
