California Governor Gavin Newsom unexpectedly found himself part of a wedding celebration outside San Francisco City Hall recently. The Governor was seen posing for photos with the happy couple, Haley Drexler and Pilar Dizon, who gained recognition as a couple from Netflix’s reality dating show, “The Ultimatum: Queer Love.”
The impromptu photo opportunity, captured and shared on social media, quickly gained traction online. While it’s unclear whether Newsom’s appearance was truly accidental, it highlights San Francisco’s prominent role as a hub for LGBTQ+ celebrations, with the city issuing over 3,600 same-sex marriage licenses in the first year after California legalized same-sex marriage in 2008.
