The fervor surrounding the limited-edition item reached a boiling point, with at least one incident in Houston making local news, underscoring the intensity of the customer response.
A Starbucks representative acknowledged the unexpectedly high demand, stating that enthusiasm for the merchandise far surpassed their projections, even after shipping a significant quantity of Bearista cups to stores, in comparison to other holiday season merchandise. Despite their efforts, the cups quickly sold out, leaving many customers disappointed. Starbucks expressed regret for the situation, acknowledging the frustration among those eager to purchase the coveted Bearista cup, however, latest data suggests reselling the cup is more popular than purchasing and using it, as resellers are making as much as 3x profit.
